An Evening in Banaras

Varanasi or Banaras, considered one of the holiest cities of the country, lies on the banks of the river Ganga. Also called Kashi, it is the oldest city in India as well as one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world.

As the night blackens, boatmen wait to ferry passengers across the waters. The crowds slowly disperse, and hawkers retire to street corners with weary, blood-shot eyes. You can’t help but take it all in. Benares, at night, lifts your soul and leaves you wanting.

I was back in Banaras last week when I clicked this pic. I think the watermark is cool because the way non DSLR photographers are ridiculed is simply stupid and doesn’t make sense.
