The hustle bustle and chaos of Mumbai often prompts its residents to get out and do something that would make them feel alive again. Adventure is very important for anyone who has been living a routine, programmed life and wishes to break those shackles and fly. We tend to believe that an adrenaline pumping adventure will change us the way our life has been. Adventure often gives us a fresh perspective on life. If you are someone who is living in Mumbai and wants to get out for a newfound idea of life then here are some places that you can start with.

Trek to Rajmachi and Kondana Caves
Rajmachi trek was the place where I had my first introduction with the gorgeous Sahyadri Mountains. It rained without a pause and the tiny droplets of water found a way to enter inside my raincoat. I was badly drenched but it didn’t stop me from basking in the beauty of the lush green mountains and the gorgeous natural waterfalls around me. Rajmachi trek is a one day trek that can be mixed with their Lonavala visit. While the monsoon is the best time to go on this trek, the winters are not too bad either. You can also mix this trek with a long weekend trip and make your trip a mix of luxury and adventure. Treasure Island in Lonavala is the perfect place to unwind after a grueling trek.
Rock Climbing Adventure at Dhak Bhahiri
When I was asked if I would like to join a group of trekkers for a pre sunrise hike to nearby caves, I almost refused. Considering that the treks in Maharashtra go through patches of jungles, it sounded like an extreme case of insanity only a madman would think of. Something prompted me and I joined the group for an early morning trek. Dhak Bahiri takes you through the deepest forests of the Sahyadri Range. This route is famous for rare bird sightings and a millions leeches that get inside your clothes to suck your blood. The trek usually starts at 4 AM because the view of the sunrise from the top of the cliff is absolutely gorgeous.
Waterfall Rappelling at Kondana Caves

There is no better way to make you feel alive than to climb a roaring cascade. Kondana cave is a popular location for tourists visiting Lonavala. The same cave turns into an encompassing waterfall during the monsoon that is as high as 120 feet.
Bike Ride in Malshej Ghat
Malshej Ghat is located in the heart of Sahyadri Hills. This place is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lakes and splendid valleys. For those who love their bullets and never miss a chance to explore the challenging routes, Malshej Ghat is bound to make touch your soul with the sheer bounty of nature that covers this entire region.
White Water Rafting in Kolad
Kolad is the home to Kundalika River and is located amidst a gorgeous natural setting. As an adventure seeker, Kolad was a fresh change from the treks and forts of Maharashtra that I usually explore. The mighty Kundalika River offers grade 3 rapids which is rare for the water bodies in this region. This one-hour rafting experience gives you the best of nature as you can only hear the sound of the roaring river and the chirping birds in the jungle.
Mumbai, as a city is, has a lot to offer but once in a while, everyone needs to break their routine and explore the sheer beauty that exists in the surroundings of this city. Do you have a favorite weekend destination around your city? Sign off in the comments.
