Jibhi and Tirthan Valley are beautiful places hidden in the Banjar Valley of Himachal Pradesh. If you love nature, peace, and staying at cozy homestays without spending too much money, you’ll love it here. The area has thick pine forests, stunning views, and friendly local people.
About Jibhi and Tirthan Valley
These valleys are still not very popular with tourists, which makes them special. You’ll find old wooden houses, clear streams, and mountains all around. The area is part of Himachal Pradesh’s rich culture, where people still live traditionally. The weather is pleasant most of the year, and you can enjoy everything from hiking to just relaxing in nature.

How to Get There
By Bus
The cheapest way is to take a Volvo bus from Delhi to Aut (costs ?1,200-1,500). From Aut, take a taxi or shared cab to Jibhi (?700-1,000 per person).
By Train
You can take a train to Chandigarh, then catch a bus or taxi to Aut, and finally to Jibhi.
My Route
I came from McLeodganj. Got lucky and found a taxi going that way. They dropped me near a tunnel, and I took another cab from there. Paid ?1,500 for the ride through beautiful mountain roads and misty forests.

Jibhi and Tirthan Valley are full of natural beauty and hidden spots. Here are some must-visit places:
1. Jalori Pass

One of the highest motorable passes in Himachal, Jalori Pass offers stunning views. If you love trekking, visit Serolsar Lake, just an hour away.
2. Serolsar Lake

This peaceful alpine lake is surrounded by dense forests. It’s a two-hour trek from Jalori Pass and has a small temple dedicated to Budhi Nagin.
3. Chehni Kothi

A 1,500-year-old tower, Chehni Kothi showcases traditional Himachali architecture. The short but steep trek rewards you with breathtaking valley views.
4. Tirthan Valley
Known for trout fishing, riverside camping, and nature walks, Tirthan Valley is also the gateway to Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
5. Waterfalls in Jibhi

Jibhi has several hidden waterfalls. The most popular one is near the village, and the short jungle trek to reach it is as enjoyable as the destination.

Local Festivals
While I haven’t been lucky enough to attend these festivals yet, I’ve heard amazing things about the celebrations in Tirthan Valley. The Faguli festival happens in April, where locals celebrate the arrival of spring with colorful gatherings and traditional dances. In October, there’s the Dussehra festival, which is different from what we see in other parts of India. Here, local deities from different villages are carried in decorated palanquins, and people celebrate with folk music and dance. I’m planning to time my next visit during one of these festivals to experience the local culture at its liveliest.
