Fort Kochi stands out as one of the most unique places in India. It is a harmonious blend of history and culture. This beautiful coastal town is a confluence of Portuguese, Dutch, and Arabian influences. The arrival of traders and settlers from different parts of the world left an indelible mark on its architecture, art, and cuisine.
For the backpacker at heart, Fort Kochi is a hub waiting to be explored. There are a number of backpacker hostels and coworking cafes for those who are looking for a peaceful combination of remote work with travel. The cafe culture of Fort Kochi also deserves a special mention. In this blog, we’ll take you on a virtual tour of some of the must-visit cafes in Fort Kochi in 2023. I had written a blog about best Fort Kochi Cafes in the past, a few of which are still operational, including the iconic Kashi Art Cafe but there are new ones worth trying and I will be covering three of these in this blog.
Padhal Cafe & Deli – David Hall

Padhal Cafe and Deli is situated within the iconic David Hall. It’s not just a cafe; it’s a go-to destination for art and exhibition enthusiasts. The cafe spans around the courtyard and garden area of David Hall. It’s my top pick for breakfast, offering the best coffee in town. Their menu boasts delectable options, including the must-try beef sandwich and Korean pork. Padhal Cafe is also an Instagram-worthy space, with a visually appealing decor that perfectly complements their assortment of cakes and sandwiches. A visit here for two is budget-friendly, with an average price of around 1200 rupees.
Kochi Capital Cafe

Despite its small size, Kochi Capital Cafe offers a lot that other eateries here don’t. Apart from an assortment of tea, coffee and snacks, the walls of the cafe showcase iconic photos of Fort Kochi, adding character to the space. With window-side seating, you can enjoy your coffee while soaking in the life and sights of Fort Kochi. The coffee, sourced from authentic origins, leaves a delightful aftertaste. Their limited menu is simple but worth the time spent here. Their burgers are a must try.
Qissa Cafe

Qissa Cafe offers a limited menu but the breakfast options are truly satisfying. Whether you prefer the cozy indoors or the refreshing outdoors, Qissa caters to both. Don’t miss the delectable Kerala chicken burger and the refreshing Greek Salad. For those seeking vegan choices, they have an array of options that won’t disappoint.
Mocha Art Cafe

Mocha Art Cafe, located in the Jew Town in Fort Kochi is in a close proximity to the historic Pardesi Synagogue. The café doubles as an art gallery, showcasing exhibitions throughout the year. While the service may be slow. the enchanting ambience and picturesque views of Fort Kochi more than compensate for any wait. Don’t miss the Mocha Cold Coffee; it’s an absolute must-try.
If you a planning a visit to Fort Kochi on a weekend trip from Bangalore or for remote work, these cafes are a must visit. For more information, don’t forget to connect with me on Instagram and YouTube.
