I first visited Vattakanal in 2014 when it was still a quaint and small town, primarily frequented by Israeli tourists. The heart of Vattakanal was centered around Altaf Cafe, which became a favorite spot for me. I have returned to Kodaikanal multiple times and always head to Vattakanal.
Vattakanal is easily accessibile from Bangalore. It is at a short distance of 6 hours which makes it a convenient getaway for a weekend trip. Another aspect that keeps me hooked on Vattakanal is the culinary experience. Vattakanal may be a small hamlet but that doesn’t mean you will run out of options to eat. From indulging in delicious shakshuka and hummus to savoring authentic dosas and filter coffee, the food scene in Vattakanal never disappoints.

Each time I visit Vattakanal, I experience the same peace and tranquility that I found first time. There is so much to explore. You can see stunning landscapes, charming cafes, and the bohemian vibe of the town. It feels that time stands still here. Vattakanal has become a special place for me. I can work from here in peace and inspire my soul.
